Möstros - Möstros

Möstros is the visual alter-ego of NILLO, Producer and DJ based in San José, Costa Rica, founder and activist at Random Collective Records (with Maracuyá), Radio Bemba and Programa Espacial Indígena Latinoamericano (web platforms dedicated to investigate and showcase latin and indigenous music and art).

Möstros - n°5

Just like his NILLO musical identity, Möstros is deeply influenced by the local native tribal communities, their legends, their gods... He researches on it and use this mysticism to give depth to his collages, characterized by a strong contrast between modern textures, Barocco and more traditional elements melt into symmetrical & iconic compositions.

Möstros - Self Portrait

"Multicultural" is maybe one of the best adjectives to use when describing Möstros' style: tropical plants, prehispanic figures, oriental clothing, colonial & Victorian ornaments... For him it is a way to build abstract mystery, and his only limit in space and time are his mind and the elements he can find to arrange these collages.

Möstros - Cover for NILLO Amateur Exotic

The Möstros project itself may be quite young, however the quality of the execution, and the fact the mind behind it knows well his roots made some of these collages find a home: a podcast cover for the eclectic and mystical Russian label Amateur Exotic, a compilation cover for the São Paulo (BR) downtempo label Tropical Twista Records, another one for Lagartijeando and Javier Arce's latest EP... Without mentioning Random Collective's graphic identity and many other album and EP covers! After all, his artworks are a translation of  his musical feelings, so composing covers was the most logical consequence...
