VJ   Vish

VJ Vish aka Lisa Derksen Castillo, is an Amsterdam-based Video Jockey and artist with Spanish & French roots. A good introduction for the answer to the question "Where do Vish come from?" would be: "Born in a Citroën BX in front of the Heineken Brewery in Amsterdam, the first thing Lisa held was not a beer but a pencil". Really promising multicultural artist, her style is getting increasingly acknowledged in the Netherlands, and for good reasons!
Lisa began connecting these mediums through VJing, under the name Vish, performing Live Visual Projections during musical performances, translating music into visual images. She then started her own artistic projects with her "Eye" made of wood and glass, and some illegal "Guerrilla Mapping" along with VJ Sjush for Gent's Lichtfestival 2018.

Through her audio-visual works and installations, she combines media and materials with the intention to communicate the same message: "See the Sound", as synesthesia suggests.

Also into interactive art, she works with movement reactive visual Kinect installations, making people play with video & motion design while moving.

During her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts and Education from the Amsterdam Academy of Arts in 2015, she continued her childhood old practices of drawing and painting, but her artistic shift to video happened when she got her hands on a camera for the first time and discovered the power of digital media. With this medium she found new ways to investigate the relations between color, sound and emotion.
