Psycho TropiquesPsycho Tropiques is a duo of DJs, producers and cultural activists. Their musical project started during a trip in Minas Gerais (same province as AVGVSTVS), Brasil, where one of them used to live. Later, they co-founded with Ditti, DÖM and friends the multicolored label and collective Curuba in Paris, where they try to develop the downtempo/global bass movement in the alternative scene.
They see their project as a space of musical experimentation, where they blend both their cultural influences (Brasil/Middle-East/Eastern Europe) in a sort of synesthetic and syncretic audio patchwork.

Their work focuses on textures, field recordings, percussions and organic sounds, going from slow and experimental brain massages to sample-infused syncopated rhythms.
If Psycho Tropiques is a duo, each member is also highly capable to transport the audience, with his own style and influences.
They recently released tracks through EPs and a V.A. (featuring Shimon) on Curuba, but also one on Random Collective (CR), the spiritual label managed by friends NILLO and Maracuyá (these two also appearing on Curuba's first V.A.). Often travelling between Europe, the Middle East and Latin America, these guys are always looking for more inspiration & connections. |
